Visit Tromsø is Eco-Lighthouse certified

Visit Tromsø-Region is proud to be Eco-Lighthouse certified, a milestone we achieved in 2017 and renewed in 2021. As an Eco-Lighthouse certified organisation, we are committed to taking concrete steps to reduce our environmental footprint and operate more responsibly.

The certification is not just a symbol of our dedication but also a practical tool that helps us continuously improve. This work is an ongoing process, touching all aspects of our operations and supporting our responsibility towards both the environment and the local community.

Our environmental efforts cover several key focus areas:

• Work environment: We prioritise safe, inclusive, and health-promoting workplaces that provide employees with a positive physical and psychosocial environment.
   
• Procurement: We always consider the environmental impact of our purchases, choosing local suppliers and environmentally certified products that support sustainable development, thereby contributing positively to the green transition.
   
• Energy: Reducing energy consumption is central to our work, and we continuously strive to lower it.
   
• Transport: To reduce emissions, we promote environmentally friendly transport, both internally and in the services we offer visitors, and have reduced our own travel in favour of digital meetings.
   
• Waste: We work purposefully to minimise waste through better sorting and proper handling.
   
• Emissions: We aim to reduce our most significant direct and indirect impacts on the climate and environment.
   
• Responsibility: We help preserve Tromsø’s unique nature and aesthetic value by working responsibly with our surroundings and resources.

As an Eco-Lighthouse-certified company and part of the "Sustainable Destination" certification scheme, we at Visit Tromsø-Region work purposefully and continuously to reduce tourism’s impact on the environment and our local community.
