Urban experiences meet raw Arctic nature
A warm welcome to Tromsø
Welcome to Tromsø – one of Norway’s most attractive destinations for meetings and conferences. Tromsø offers exciting accommodation, world-class restaurants and state-of-the-art facilities. Outside the conference rooms, a wide range of cultural and nature-based experiences will ensure the guests have memorable experiences.
Despite its location at almost 69 °N, getting to Tromsø is surprisingly easy with daily international and domestic flights. A major expansion of Tromsø airport is currently underway and, by the turn of the year 2023/2024, the airport will be able to receive three times as many passengers.
In addition to good accessibility, there are many other reasons to choose Tromsø as your destination for meetings, conferences, congresses and events. Tromsø Convention Bureau, a network organised by Visit Tromsø, consists of hotels in the city centre and Tromsø region, DMCs, activity providers and transport and logistics suppliers. All have a high degree of professionalism combined with vast experience in the meeting segment. We collaborate to give customers the best possible experiences, and to strengthen Tromsø as an international destination for meetings.
Regardless of whether you want outdoor experiences in the scenic Tromsø region or a chance to explore the city’s cultural and urban life, Tromsø has lots to offer outside the conference rooms. There is a plentiful range of festivals, attractions, museums, shopping and bars/pubs, cafés and restaurants. Yes, many restaurants, often with locally produced delights on the menu. You will also discover good local beer and lots of good coffee.
The Northern Lights from your hotel window?
If you visit Tromsø in the autumn or winter (from September to April), you can experience the Northern Lights. You can chase the lights on dog sleds, reindeer sleds or snowmobiles, to give but a few examples. If you are lucky, you will see the Northern Lights from your hotel window – in downtown Tromsø. Exotic is just the initial.
In summer (from late May to late July), we bathe in the golden rays of the Midnight Sun. It’s a wonderful season for outdoor activities. Just a stone’s throw from the city, you can hike up mountains and get stunning views as your reward. The Tromsø region is an Eldorado for outdoor activities like kayaking, fishing trips and fjord safaris.
A distinct green profile
Many of the suppliers in Tromsø are environmentally certified and take conscious environmental responsibility every single day. Tromsø is also one of Norway’s sustainable destinations, and we work continuously to minimise the negative impact of tourism on the environment. We have developed guidelines to take care of nature and the local community, Tromsø Cares, to help you make sustainable choices.
