Sami experience included feeding reindeer

General information

Learn more about the Sami when you come to meet some of our reindeer. Take a trip to our Samicamp in beautiful Skibotn, together with the local reindeer herding family we will give you an insight into the Sami culture and give you the opportunity to meet the reindeer.

After the experience in Samicamp, you will take the short trip to Skibotn Hotel. Here you will be served a hot meal in their Sami inspired restaurant, Sarvvis.

After a simple 3-course Sami inspired lunch, it is time to say goodbye.

The experience includes:

• Meet and get up close to our reindeer
• Plenty of opportunities to take selfies with reindeer
• Hear real stories from life as a reindeer herder
• Learn how the Sami catch reindeer and try your own lasso throwing skills
• Hot drinks and a 3-course dinner
• Transfer with Arctic Route from Tromsø to Skibotn (when booked)

Remember to bring:

• Warm clothes (at least two layers, we recommend wearing wool inside)
• Mittens
• Hat
• Good winter boots/shoes

Meeting time and place:

If you book with transport from Tromsø: 08:45 at Prostneset, the bus terminal in Tromsø. The bus departs at 09:00, look for the Arctic Route bus heading towards Storslett.

Arrival at Skibotn Hotel around 10:45. Return from Skibotn at 15:45 and back in Tromsø at 17:35.

If you are coming to Skibotn yourself: meet at 10.45 outside Skibotn Hotel, Skibotsveien 421, 9143 Skibotn

Duration: approx. 9 hours (including transfer 2 hours each way), with out transfer 3-4 hrs. There is some free time after lunch and before the bus arrives for the return to Tromsø
