About us

Restaurant Smak is an intimate fine dining restaurant in Tromsø, where precision, ingredients, and hospitality are at the heart of the experience. In 2024, the restaurant moved into newly designed premises, marking a natural step in its ongoing ambition to further refine and elevate the overall guest experience. With only 7 tables and a maximum capacity of 22 guests, the setting is designed to offer a calm, personal, and carefully curated dining experience, where every detail is thoughtfully considered.

Since its establishment in 2010, Restaurant Smak, founded and run by the couple Eva-Linda and Espen Ramnestedt, has grown into one of Northern Norway’s most acclaimed gastronomic destinations. The restaurant is known for its uncompromising approach to quality and its distinctive culinary identity, deeply rooted in the nature and seasons of the Arctic region.

The menu is based on the finest ingredients from Northern Norway and the Arctic — from seafood harvested from cold, clear waters to game, herbs, and vegetables shaped by the northern landscape. Traditional preservation methods such as fermentation, drying, and smoking are combined with modern techniques to create a refined and contemporary interpretation of Northern Norwegian cuisine.

The restaurant’s intimate scale creates a natural closeness between the kitchen and its guests, allowing for highly personal service and a holistic experience defined by presence, precision, and quiet attention to detail. The result is a gastronomic journey that reflects both the region, the season, and the people behind it.
