Try the oldest vehicle from the arctic, feed our reindeer herd and enjoy the arctic landscape in this evening tour while the northern lights might appear above you!
General information
This tour is conducted by Tromsø Lapland
Join our tour to get really close to reindeer! These gentle but curious creatures will come to eat from your hands, and you will get plenty of time to interact with these magical beings. According to Saami people, the northern lights have a sound. Our camp is far away from the city lights and noise, which makes it a perfect spot to enjoy the northern lights. This beautiful phenomenon cannot be predicted though, which makes it extra magical when it happens while you are here!
Now that the reindeer are full and satisfied, it's your turn to have dinner. You will head to the Gamme (a modern-traditional Sami hut) for a hot drink and a warm tasty Biddos, our traditional Sami reindeer stew. Inside the Gamme, our guide will tell you more about life in the Arctic, Sami knowledge and culture, and will show you a collection of Sami artifacts and clothing.
Tromsø Lapland is established by authentic Saami people with long reindeer herding traditions and have the longest experience of running authentic Saami experience and culture tours in Tromsø, being established in 2009.
Important!
- If the snow conditions are unfavourable, we keep the right to amend the duration of the reindeer sledding.
- All animals used for these services are trained for the activity, however, the behaviour of these animals can be unpredictable and therefore it is essential that all participants follow all given instructions for their safety, and the safety of others.
- The sledding takes place as a "raid" where each reindeer and sled are bound together in a long row with the lead reindeer in the front. This means that sleds are shared, two participants per sled.
- Alternative: The Reindeer Sledding is subject to good snow conditions and if the weather does not allow us to run the sled-ride we will offer you a partial refund.
- Not suitable for wheelchair as the snow/terrain make it difficult to manoeuvre around the location.
