General information

This tour is operated by Polar Adventures.

Join a small-group northern lights chase from Tromsø with experienced guides and aurora hunters. The route is adapted to the weather and conditions each evening, giving the group the flexibility to search for areas with good possibilities of seeing the northern lights.

Leaving Tromsø city centre behind, you will travel into the surrounding Arctic countryside. Depending on the conditions, the route may take you past mountains, fjords and valleys as your guide searches for suitable locations away from the city lights.

During the evening, you can borrow an insulated thermal suit to help keep you warm. Hot chocolate, tea and snacks, including marshmallows, are included. When weather and tour conditions allow, the group may also gather around a bonfire.

Your guides take photos throughout the tour. Two landscape photos are included, and additional photos can be purchased for NOK 40 per photo. The photos are made available online by 6 PM (18:00) the following day.

At the end of the tour, drop-off is available in Tromsdalen, Reinen, Tromsø Island and Kvaløysletta. If you are staying elsewhere, the guides can assist with arranging a taxi.

Food and drink: Hot chocolate, tea and snacks are included. A warm meal is not included, so we recommend eating before the tour. Eating and drinking are not permitted on board the minibus.

Please bring: Warm outdoor clothing, water-resistant winter shoes, wool socks, warm gloves or mittens and a hat. An insulated thermal suit is provided.

Meeting time and place: Fr. Nansens plass 1A, 9008 Tromsø.

Latest meeting time and departure:

• 1 September 2026–30 September 2026: Meet no later than 7:40 PM (19:40). Departure at 8 PM (20:00).
• 1 October 2026–15 March 2027: Meet no later than 6:10 PM (18:10). Departure at 6:30 PM (18:30).
• 16 March 2027–15 April 2027: Meet no later than 7:40 PM (19:40). Departure at 8 PM (20:00).

Duration: Approximately 5–7 hours. The duration may vary depending on weather conditions and northern lights activity.

• The northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
• The route and stops vary depending on weather, cloud cover and northern lights activity.
• A bonfire is weather- and tour-dependent and cannot be guaranteed.
• Guides take photos throughout the tour. The photos are available online by 6 PM (18:00) the following day.
• Eating and drinking are not permitted on board the minibus.

Our activities are though in the way that all even the youngest of the family can have a funny time in our activities by boat, get surprised by the animals that we might see and sit with the captain, why not!?!?



We also take care of our Planet as much as we can and encourage our guests to participate actively on our purpose. 



We want to reduce how much garbage we generate by not using one use cups, spoons, etc. It is important to sort the garbage, so their usage cycle is not finished.
