After a short drive from Tromsø city, you will arrive at our center, where we will equip you with thermal overalls and boots, so you stay warm and cosy while waiting for the lights to appear.
Then you will go on a guided tour of our dog yard, where you can meet and cuddle our 200 Alaskan huskies. You will also visit our puppies, who simply cannot wait to play with you. Afterwards, we will serve dinner in our Gamme-hut. You can try Bacalao, a traditional Norwegian fish dish made from locally sourced cod, but we also offer a vegetarian alternative.
The rest of the evening can be spent outside northern lights watching around a bonfire. As our center is a 25 minutes' drive away from Tromsø and the city lights, the sky overhead is dark and very well suited for Aurora watching. Stay out as long as you like! When you get tired, our Lavvu-tent furnished with soft reindeer skins and high-quality camping gear awaits you for the night. Included in the price is accommodation in a shared tent, if you would prefer private accommodation, please contact us.
And the next morning, after a hearty breakfast, we will take you out for a dog sledding adventure! You can decide if you want to ride the sled as the passenger of one of our experienced guides, or if you want to drive it yourself. Please note that the self-drive activity has an age restriction of 16 years and requires good physical condition. In both tours, you will be out on the sled for about 45 minutes (depending on the weather conditions) and share it with another guest.
Back at our center a hot lunch of Bidos, Sami reindeer stew, will restore your strength before you say goodbye to our dogs and we will bring you back to Tromsø (arrival 12:45).
Included: Guide, transfer (25 min each way), approx. 45 minutes dog sledding, dog yard guiding and puppy visit, thermal clothing, overnight stay in a shared tent, camping gear, all meals, hot drinks
Please bring: Warm underwear, gloves, a hat and everything you need for the overnight stay
Departure time/place: 06:45PM/18:45 from outside of Radisson Blu hotel.

About Tromsø Villmarkssenter
30 years ago, the renowned dog sled racer Tove Sørensen opened her home to guests from all over the world. Since then, she and her family have dedicated their life to educating visitors about Alaskan huskies, dog sledding and the arctic nature through sustainable outdoor activities.
We strive to be inclusive hosts in every regard - everybody who shares our passion is welcome! You can request vegetarian and vegan alternatives for all our programs and most of our activities are great for the whole family. Let your little ones play with our little ones in the puppy training program or take them on a sledding adventure chauffeured safely by one of our experienced guides. Infants between 0-2 are always free of charge and we offer discounts for children!
Our facilities are also wheelchair accessible and especially the dog sledding ride program is well suited for people with disabilities. However, our walkways can be a bit difficult to maneuver, especially when covered in snow. So make sure to have a helper with you when you come visit! The standard shuttle service requires you to enter the bus on your own, but we can arrange for specialized transportation upon request. Please contact us if you are planning to visit, we would love to tailor-make a smooth and barrier free experience for you!
On our programs you will not only experience everything we love about our home, but discover your very own inner connection to the Arctic. Whether you let us teach you how to drive a sled or let a four-legged hiking buddy show you their favorite trails – Tromsø Villmarkssenter is your home in the wilderness!
